What is Dream Catcher Live by Evolution?

Dream Catcher Live is Evolution’s original big-wheel casino game show, and it remains, even today, one of the most popular and successful live dealer casino games in history.

Launched back in 2017, Dream Catcher was pretty much responsible for kicking off the now-famous money wheel live game format, and if you’re (somehow) unfamiliar with how it works, the concept is simple: a large vertical wheel is spun by a live game host, and you simply bet on which segment it will land on! It’s simple, easy to play and fun.

Plus, unlike later games like Crazy Time or Funky Time, there are no complicated rules or bonus rounds. Just bet on which numbers you think will land, watch to see if multipliers hit, and enjoy!

It’s this straightforward format that helped to make Dream Catcher the success it ended up becoming, and throughout our guide, we’re going to show you the ins and outs of how the game works, look at the odds and probabilities, and show you how to use our dedicated Dream Catcher statistics tracker so you can monitor how the game’s been playing!

Gameplay & Features

Dream Catcher’s gameplay revolves around a large vertically mounted wheel that’s divided into 54 equal segments. You choose to bet on numbers (1, 2, 5, 10, 20, or 40), and each of these numbers then represents a payout multiplier if the wheel lands on that number.

Now, the core feature that sets Dream Catcher apart from a basic money wheel is the two special multiplier segments: 2x and 7x. When the wheel lands on one of these, it doesn’t pay out immediately; instead, it triggers a multiplier for the next spin’s result. However, where things can get very interesting is that it’s actually possible to land a multiplier after a multiplier.

Wheel, Interface & User Experience

The Dream Catcher wheel is pretty iconic, and it’s a massive, brightly coloured money wheel that sits right in the middle of your screen! It's got 54 equal segments separated by pins, and you’ll see a flapper at the top that indicates where the wheel's stopped. Each number is colour-coded, too, which matches the betting buttons on your screen, making it very easy to see what's what.

The interface itself is simple, too. You've got your betting buttons at the bottom; just click your chip value and tap the number you want to bet on. There's also a history bar showing recent results, and there are no complicated side bets or bonus segments to cover, so it really is very simple and straightforward!

In our opinion, Evolution Gaming really nailed the live game show atmosphere with Dream Catcher. The studio's bright and colourful, and you’ll see dynamic lighting that changes throughout the game. There are multiple camera angles, and the presenters themselves are fantastic; they're trained to be entertaining and engaging, and they interact with the game’s live chat feature, so you can talk to them as you play, too!

How to Play Dream Catcher Live

Dream Catcher is one of the simplest live casino games you'll ever play; there are no complicated rules or strategies to worry about, and all you need to do is just place your bets and watch the wheel spin! Here’s precisely how to get started:

1. Placing Your Bets:

At the start of each round, you'll have around 15 seconds to place your bets; simply click on whichever number(s) you want to bet on, choose your stake size, and that’s it! You can bet on as many numbers as you like in a single round, though obviously this increases your total stake.

Each number pays out at its face value, so betting on 10 pays 10:1, betting on 40 pays 40:1, and so on. Once the timer runs out, the presenter will announce "No more bets", and the round begins!

2. The Wheel Spin:

The presenter gives the big money wheel a spin, and you simply watch as it gradually slows down. The segment that stops under the pointer at the top of the wheel is your result; it really is as straightforward as that.

Now, there are only two possible outcomes of the spin: either the wheel lands on a number, in which case the round ends and payouts are awarded, or it lands on a multiplier segment, which we’ll explain below.

3. Multipliers:

If the wheel stops on a 2x or 7x multiplier winning segment, all bets remain in place, and the presenter spins the wheel again. Whatever number it lands on next will have your winnings multiplied by that multiplier value.

This is also where Dream Catcher gets exciting. If the wheel lands on consecutive multiplier segments, they stack. So if you hit 2x, then 7x, then finally land on a number, your payout is multiplied by 14x. In very rare cases, it’s possible to get 3 or 4 bonus multipliers stacking on top of one another, and this scenario is where the game’s high win potential can come out!

4. Payouts and Next Round:

Once the wheel lands on a number (with or without multipliers), that's your result. If you choose to bet on that number, you get paid out accordingly. Your stake is simply multiplied by the number value and multiplied again by any active multipliers. The next round then begins!

That's really all there is. Dream Catcher doesn’t require any complicated decisions, there are no complex side bets to worry about, and you just need to pick your numbers, watch the wheel, and hope it lands where you need it to!

Dream Catcher Live Multipliers Explained

Unlike newer game show releases, such as Money Time or Game Night Live, Dream Catcher doesn't have any dedicated bonus rounds. There are no mini-games, no bonus wheels, no Pachinko walls or Cash Hunt grids, and while that may be off-putting for some players, to be honest, it’s the main appeal of the game, in our opinion.

So, yes, while there aren’t any conventional bonus game rounds, what Dream Catcher does have are multiplier segments, and it’s these wheel segments that create the game’s core win potential.

How Multipliers Work

There are two multiplier segments on the wheel: one marked 2x and one marked 7x. When the wheel lands on either of these, your bets don't win or lose; instead, they stay in place, and the wheel is spun again. Whatever number it lands on next will have its payout multiplied by that multiplier value.

So if you've bet $1 on segment 10 and the wheel hits 7x followed by 10, you'd win $70 (10 x 7) instead of the usual $10. It’s very straightforward, admittedly, but you'd be surprised at just how big some of the wins it can produce are!

However, the game’s true win potential reveals itself when the multipliers stack on one another. If the wheel lands on a multiplier, then another multiplier on the re-spin, they multiply together. A 7x followed by a 7x gives you a 49x multiplier on the number the wheel ends up landing on, and in very rare cases, you can even get three or even four multipliers together. A 7x, 7x, 7x sequence, for example, would create a 343x multiplier, which, combined with the 40 segment, would deliver a staggering 13,720x win!

Now, it’s worth noting that during the multiplier re-spins, you can't place new bets or change your existing ones, as only the bets that were already on the table when the first multiplier hit will benefit from the multiplied payout. Still, it’s a neat little mechanic, even if it is very rare to see consecutive multipliers landing!

Payouts, Probabilities & RTP

Dream Catcher’s payouts are very easy to understand because they correspond exactly to the numbers on the wheel. If you bet on 5 and the wheel lands on 5, you win 5:1. If you bet on 1 and it wins, you win even money, 1:1.

This simplicity, we believe, is one of the main reasons Dream Catcher became so popular in the first place. It’s also something we’ve seen Evolution (and other live software providers) largely maintaining in wheel-based games today; numbered bets usually pay at their value.

Outcome# Of SegmentsProbabilityPayout
123 segments42.59%1:1
215 segments27.78%2:1
57 segments12.96%5:1
104 segments7.40%10:1
202 segments3.70%20:1
401 segment1.85%40:1
2x Multiplier1 segment1.85%N/A
7x Multiplier1 segment1.85%N/A

As you can see, the lower numbers like 1 and 2 cover a large portion of the wheel, and this, clearly, makes them land far more often than any of the other segments. The theoretical RTP for Dream Catcher is about 96.58%, but the figure does vary slightly depending on which bets you place.

For example, the 10 segment offers the highest RTP, unusually, roughly 96.58%, while the RTP for the 5 and 40 segments can be as low as around 91%. However, unless you’re placing one bet on one number, consistently, you don’t really need to worry too much about this, as covering multiple numbers basically reduces the risk and brings you pretty close to the highest advertised RTP.

Dream Catcher Live Streaming Quality

As you'd expect from Evolution, Dream Catcher Live's streaming quality is excellent. The game is streamed from their main studio hub in Riga, Latvia. The video feed is crisp HD with multiple camera angles capturing all the action!

As with all Evolution titles, the game is also fully optimised for desktop and mobile. On handhelds, you get a slightly simplified layout due to screen size, but all betting options and cards are still available; just now, some are accessed through toggles or swipe menus.

Dream Catcher Live Statistic Tracking

Let’s clear something up: Dream Catcher doesn’t follow the same format as other live dealer titles, including Ice Fishing and Lightning Storm, and has absolutely no random number generator (RNG) element to it. The wheel is entirely physical, and Evolution reportedly paid a small fortune to have it made and designed!

This means that with every spin, there are no computer-based decisions. The outcomes of every round are determined by the physical wheel itself. On this wheel, there are 54 numbered segments and the multipliers, and wherever it stops is completely random.

As is the case with RNG games too, there is no way to beat the game in the long run, and understanding the statistics of how it’s been playing won’t help you either.

However, many players do want to see which results have happened recently and get a feel for how the game’s been playing, and while Evolution does offer some basic in-game stats, they’re quite limited.

Why Do Players Check Previous Dream Catcher Results?

This is quite a difficult question to answer, as every player has their own reasons for doing so! Some players choose to use third-party casino tracker tools like ours to get a clearer picture of how the game has actually been playing recently. This can help you understand volatility and how it shows up in practice, not on paper.

Players may, for example, want to know how long it's been since the 40 segment last hit (there's only one on the entire wheel!) or whether the 2x and 7x multipliers have been appearing frequently.

Many players also find themselves wanting more “data” points than Evolution provides. For example, they may want to see how often multiplier chains have been happening (the times when multipliers multiply one another.) On the other hand, for many players, being able to see recent results and trends simply adds to the fun!

Are There Any Benefits To Using Dream Catcher Stats?

Well, it depends on how you approach it. Any tool that tracks statistics for Dream Catcher is more about entertainment value than anything else. You should really avoid thinking you can “make a profit” or “improve your chances of winning” by using a tracking tool.

Naturally, knowing that the 40 segment hasn't hit in X number of spins, or that the wheel's landed on 1 for the last eight consecutive spins, can be interesting, but knowing this information, of course, has absolutely no bearing or impact on your ability to predict how the machine will behave in future rounds!

For most players, the main benefit of using a tracking tool is that they’re able to make slightly better choices when sitting down at the game. You might choose to bet on the 40 segment if you notice it tends to land quite a lot, for example, or you may choose to cover more numbers if multipliers have not hit for a long time.

Note: No matter what approach you take to playing Dream Catcher, don’t forget that the game’s odds and the casino’s house edge never change!

Pros & Cons Of Dream Catcher Live

Pros

Cons

Conclusion & Verdict

Dream Catcher is, without a doubt, one of Evolution’s most iconic game show releases. Even though it’s been around since 2017, it’s still pretty popular today, and the game’s simplicity has led to it becoming a staple point of pretty much every live dealer casino in the world!

It’s accessible, easy to play, entertaining, and for players who want a straightforward, fun live casino experience but without all the bells, whistles, and complexities found in releases like Crazy Time and Crazy Balls, it’s pretty much still the industry standard.

That being said, it is worth pointing out that the game does have its limitations. The lack of game features means that, compared to other titles, including Monopoly Live or Sweet Bonanza Candyland, Dream Catcher can feel a bit underwhelming, especially if you end up sessioning it for a while.

Its win potential, while still decent, is also a little disappointing when compared to what you see available in other wheel-based games. There are also a couple of quite high house edge bets (5 and 40 segments), but they aren’t terrible; it’s just something we have to point out for the purposes of writing a detailed review like this.

Overall, though, Dream Catcher remains a superb game and a fantastic choice for a lot of players. It’s easy to pick up, fun to play, and the multiplier mechanic, while basic, can deliver some pretty solid hits when things go your way!
