About Alex Smith
I’ve worked in iGaming since 2012, starting as a freelance writer before moving into direct response copywriting. In 2021, I joined Casinomeister as Head of Content and stayed until its acquisition in 2024 by GiG Media, now Gentoo Media.
I’m also the founder of Online Casino HQ and co-owner of Casino Trackpot. Throughout my career, I’ve worked with a number of leading iGaming companies, including Affiverse, VegasSlotsOnline, Slots Temple, AskGamblers, and Demoslot, in management and consultancy-based roles. My past clients also include Neil Walker’s Live Casino Comparer, a specialist live casino comparison website.
I’m originally from Brighton and now split my time between Jakarta and Seoul. My daughter lives in Jakarta, and alongside my work in iGaming, I run a travel business in Indonesia. Outside of work, I try to scuba dive as much as I can!
What I Cover
As co-owner of Casino Trackpot, I work across game analysis, content strategy and business development, including commercial partnerships and the site’s product direction.
My game coverage focuses on betting structures, paytable interpretation, RTP, volatility, multiplier calculations and bonus mechanics across live casino game shows and slots, and I also work on how game information is organised and presented on the site – bringing together detailed research, editorial planning, and helping to grow the commercial side of the business.
How I Research Games
When I’m reviewing a live casino game, I always begin with the official game rules and paytable, working through the available bet types, payout structures, bonus entry requirements and multiplier rules.
I then try to play the game for real money, wherever possible, as this gives me the best practical view of the betting interface, round timing, and how the rules/features actually translate into gameplay.
