What is Crazy Balls by Evolution?

Crazy Balls Live is a hybrid live casino game show from Evolution Gaming, first launched in late 2024. It combines the bingo-style main game mechanics of Monopoly Big Baller with the hugely popular bonus rounds of Crazy Time, and the end result is a highly unique, somewhat dynamic experience.

However, unlike in Crazy Time, there is no big spinning wheel here. Instead, Crazy Balls uses a lottery-style machine with numbered balls. Despite this core change, the game still includes the four famous Crazy Time bonus games: Coin Flip, Cash Hunt, Pachinko, and Crazy Time, and this means it’s a totally different way of playing the game, but with all of the same well-loved bonuses and features intact!

With a huge maximum win potential of up to 20,000x, it’s a solid-looking game on paper. So, why hasn’t it become more popular? And what can you expect when playing yourself? Find out in this detailed Crazy Balls review.

Gameplay & Features

Crazy Balls revolves around a bingo ball machine containing balls with numbers from 1 to 60. Each round, 20 balls are randomly drawn. Instead of betting on wheel segments or numbers, you can place bets on up to four bingo cards for the main game, each of which is a 5×5 grid of numbers. You can also bet on up to 4 bonus cards, each of which corresponds to the game’s bonus rounds.

The four regular cards can be toggled between Free Space or Multiplier cards, too. A Free Space card has a “free” spot in the centre, which acts as an already-filled number. The Multiplier card has a multiplier in the middle, increasing payouts but not offering a free spot.

Before each round’s draw begins, the game randomly adds extra Free Spaces and Multipliers to various card positions for all players, and we’ll talk more about this and the game’s different multipliers later in this guide.

With each game round, you’re given around 15 seconds to place your bets, and there are eight main bet spots: Bingo Cards 1-4 and the four bonus cards: Coin Flip, Cash Hunt, Pachinko, and Crazy Time. You can choose to play as few or as many cards as you want.

Once bets are confirmed, some random free spaces and multipliers are awarded, and the game begins! Completing a horizontal, vertical or diagonal line of five numbers on any main card forms a win, and if you’ve bet on a bonus card and all its numbers are drawn, that activates the corresponding bonus round for you.

Wheel, Interface & User Experience

Crazy Balls Live, like all Evolution games, looks superb, and once you load the game you’ll see that the game host stands beside the bingo ball machine, with the bonus round signs visible in the background.

The game has a kind of carnival theme to it, and it’s similar to Crazy Time, albeit different in places. Naturally, instead of a giant wheel, the game uses a large transparent ball machine, and this is what spins and dispenses the different balls.

The user interface is also very easy to use and intuitive. At the bottom of the screen you’ll see the main betting grid, and this displays the eight cards: four main + bonuses. During the draw, the interface highlights each card in real time: numbers that hit are marked off, and you’ll see how close each card is to a win. There’s also a mini display showing the current ball being drawn.

In terms of audio and visuals, Evolution has done an impressive job. The video stream is crisp, and there are multiple camera angles during the game, so you can see everything from close-ups of the bonus areas to head-shots of the host.

How to Play Crazy Balls Live

Like most live game shows, Crazy Balls is simple to play once you get the hang of it! Here’s how to get started:

1. Place Your Bets:

When each round starts, you’ll have a countdown of around 12-15 seconds to get your bets down. Pick your chip value and click on whichever cards you want to play: you can choose anywhere from one to all eight cards.

For the main cards, you’ll need to decide between Free Space and Multiplier mode. Free Space cards give you the centre spot already filled, making it easier to complete a line, while Multiplier cards replace that free spot with a multiplier, increasing any payouts you get, but requiring you to hit all five numbers for a win.

Most players also throw some bets on the bonus game cards, since that’s where the real action happens! If you don’t cover the bonus cards, you will not be able to play any of the bonuses.

2. The Ball Draw:

Once betting closes, the game adds random free spaces and multipliers to the cards. Then, the ball-drawing machine selects 20 random numbers. Any numbers that match your cards get marked off automatically, and the host will usually shout out when someone’s getting close to a win.

3. Results & Bonuses:

After all 20 balls are drawn, wins are paid out. Each completed line pays out at 1:1, but, of course, multipliers and multiple lines can end up changing this quite a lot.

If the drawn balls complete any of your bonus cards, you then trigger that bonus round. The bonus kicks off right after the main draw; it’s even possible to trigger multiple bonuses in the same round, though it’s pretty rare!

Crazy Balls Live Bonuses Explained

Crazy Balls offers four bonus rounds, all borrowed directly from Crazy Time. To trigger any bonus, you need to complete the corresponding bonus card during the draw by getting all its numbers. Let’s break down how each one works:

Here’s the refined version with sources removed and tone adjusted to match your style:

Coin Flip

Coin Flip is the quickest and simplest bonus. Once triggered (by filling the 3-number Coin Flip card), the host takes you to a small coin-flip device with a two-sided coin: one red, one blue. Each side gets assigned a random multiplier, like 8x on red and 50x on blue. These multipliers are also then increased by any multiplier on your Coin Flip card itself.

The coin is placed into a launcher, with the host hitting the button, which makes the coin fly up. The side that lands face-up determines what everyone in the bonus wins, so it’s the same result for all players.

Coin Flip typically offers the lowest multiplier range of the four bonuses, and it’s pretty rare to see wins worth higher than 30-40x. That being said, it’s a fast-paced bonus, it lands often, and it can produce reasonable wins if your card has been multiplied.

Cash Hunt

Cash Hunt is an interactive shooting range that triggers when you fill the 4-number Cash Hunt card. When the bonus starts, you’ll see a large screen with a 12×9 grid, and that means there are a total of 108 random multipliers hidden behind symbols like stars, targets, and cupcakes. The prizes can vary a lot, and if you’re lucky, you’ll see some 100x, 200x, and even 500x multiplier values!

The symbols then shuffle around to hide the multipliers, and then you get a few seconds to position your aim and shoot at one spot on the grid. You’re picking where you think a big multiplier might be hiding, and once the time’s up, the cannon fires, with all the symbols revealing the hidden multipliers beneath them.

You simply win whatever multiplier you uncover times your bet. Here, like in Crazy Time, every player chooses their own target, so everyone involved in the bonus round can end up with different results.

Pachinko

Pachinko is inspired by Japanese pachinko machines and uses a large vertical pegboard. You trigger it by filling the 4-number Pachinko card, and you’ll then be taken to a board that has 16 drop zones at the top and 16 random multipliers at the bottom, although the word “DOUBLE” may also appear.

Then, the puck is dropped by the host from a randomly selected drop zone, which is chosen by random number generator software. The puck then bounces down through the pegs until it lands in one of the different bottom slots. Whatever multiplier is displayed at the bottom is what you win!

However, Pachinko can also get a bit more interesting. If the puck lands on DOUBLE, all the multipliers on the board double, and another puck from a new drop zone is then released. If DOUBLE lands again, this process repeats, and it’s possible for multipliers to reach as high as 10,000x!

Crazy Time

Crazy Time is, of course, the game’s main bonus, and it’s where the most win potential lies, but, naturally, it’s also the one that’s hardest to trigger. To do so, you need to fill the 5-number Crazy Time card.

When this bonus begins, the host opens a red door in the studio wall, revealing a giant virtual wheel with 64 segments. The wheel contains various multipliers, along with some DOUBLE and TRIPLE segments.

You are then given a choice. There are three flappers on the wheel, coloured green, blue, and yellow, and you get to pick one as your pointer. After everyone chooses, the host spins the wheel, and when it stops, each flapper points to a segment. Whichever multiplier or feature your chosen flapper lands on is your result.

If your flapper hits a DOUBLE or TRIPLE, all the multipliers are doubled (or tripled), and the wheel spins again, but only for players who picked that flapper. Like the DOUBLE mechanic in Pachinko, this can repeat itself, too, and it’s by doing so that you have the chance to hit the higher multipliers and scoop the game’s maximum win potential of 20,000x!

Payouts, Probabilities & RTP

Crazy Balls Live has a solid overall Return to Player. The optimal RTP, assuming you play a “balanced spread” of bets, is around 96.10% for the base game. This is pretty much in-line with most other live game shows, and it’s actually a fraction higher than most.

Interestingly, all the main card betting options have similar RTPs, too. So, unlike in many wheel-based game shows, you aren’t at a disadvantage by choosing one type of card/bet over the others.

The four bonus bets have their own RTPs, too, ranging from about 96.49% in Coin Flip to 95.54% in Crazy Time. Below, we’ll look at the game’s different bet options, payouts, and probabilities.

Bet TypePayoutProbability
Free Space Card (line win)2:1 per line (max payout of 39:1 for a full card)N/A
Multiplier Card (line win)2:1 per line (max payout of 199:1 for a full card)N/A
Coin Flip Bonus (3 numbers)Triggers the Coin Flip Bonus3.3%
Cash Hunt Bonus (4 numbers)Triggers the Cash Hunt Bonus1.0%
Pachinko Bonus (4 numbers)Triggers the Pachinko Bonus1.0%
Crazy Time Bonus (5 numbers)Triggers the Crazy Time Bonus0.3%

The probabilities we’ve listed above show the rough estimates for completing a bonus card in a single round, and it assumes no extra free spaces. In reality, the game’s random free spots do end up improving your odds very slightly.

Interestingly, the probability of hitting a bonus per round is about 5%, which is significantly lower than Crazy Time. Finally, all line-based payouts in the table above show the payouts before multipliers. So, if any multipliers land on your numbers or lines, the actual payouts can be a lot higher!

Live Stream Quality

As you’d expect from Evolution, Crazy Balls Live’s streaming quality is excellent. The game is streamed from their main studio hub in Riga, Latvia, and the video feed is crisp HD with multiple camera angles capturing all the action!

Once the machine begins to draw balls, you’ll be given a close-up shot of the next ball that’s about to be drawn! If you manage to trigger a bonus round, the camera then transitions into that bonus area, too.

As with all Evolution titles, the game is also fully optimised for both desktop and mobile. On mobile, you get a slightly simplified layout due to screen size, but all betting options and cards are still available; just now, some are accessed through toggles or swipe menus.

One thing to note: each round takes a bit longer than typical wheel spin games like Funky Time or Monopoly Live. Drawing 20 balls and potentially playing a bonus means a single round can end up lasting a couple of minutes sometimes, so don’t expect it to be as fast-paced as, say, roulette or blackjack!

Crazy Balls Live Statistic Tracking

Like all regulated live dealer games, the outcome of the game is determined by random draws. Physical balls are used for the draw itself, and a random number generator (RNG) is used for the multipliers and determining where the extra Free Spaces/Multipliers will go.

While Evolution generally does offer semi-decent stats trackers in most of its games, Crazy Balls Live is an exception. There is no in-game “hot/cold” display beyond the very basic results. If you pull up the history menu, you can view which numbers were drawn.

You won’t, however, find a detailed history of past rounds or be able to view more advanced statistics like how often each bonus round has been triggered. That’s one of the reasons why many players are turning to third-party statistic-tracking tools like ours, as it allows them to view far more comprehensive and detailed information about how the game’s been playing.

Why Do Players Check Previous Crazy Balls Results?

Some players check the results of previous rounds to get a sense of how the game’s actually been playing. Sure, it’s easy enough to figure out how volatile it should play out on paper, and probabilities are there, but many players want to see beyond the theoretical and see the game in action for themselves!

Players may, for example, want to know how long it’s been since the last bonus round landed, or which bonus has gone the longest without appearing. They may also want to know how many extra Free Spaces/Multipliers have been added to cards to guide them on which bets to place.

Others simply want to know the stats because they’re curious! For many players, following the “history” of the game just adds to the fun.

Are There Any Benefits To Using Crazy Balls Stats Trackers?

Honestly, any stats tracker for Crazy Balls Live is more about entertainment than trying to make a profit, and simply knowing this can often be enough to help you maintain and manage your expectations!

Of course, knowing that Coin Flip hasn’t hit in X number of rounds, or that the last 10 Cash Hunt bonuses paid under 20x, can be interesting, but it won’t change the underlying probabilities of the game or your odds of winning!

The biggest benefit, for most players, is that they help you make more subjective decisions. Maybe, for example, you decide to play a certain bonus card because it seems “overdue”, or you sit out a few rounds because the game’s going through a dry spell.

Yes, these decisions aren’t based on anything mathematically, and the house edge remains the same, but they can act as guidelines for how you approach the game!

Pros & Cons Of Crazy Balls Live

Conclusion & Verdict

Crazy Balls Live is a pretty interesting experiment from Evolution, and it’s clear they’ve tried to create something a bit different by combining the bingo mechanics of Monopoly Big Baller with the iconic bonuses of Crazy Time. On paper, yes, it ticks a lot of boxes: it’s got a solid RTP, massive win potential, and excellent production quality. The game itself is decent enough, and if you’re a fan of both bingo and game shows, there’s a decent chance you’ll enjoy what’s on offer here.

However, the game hasn’t quite “taken off” in the way Evolution probably hoped that it would, and, in our opinion, it’s not hard to see why. The rounds themselves take a long time to play, and it can end up feeling like they’re dragging, especially if you’re having to sit through multiple rounds without hitting any bonuses.

On the subject of bonuses, there’s also the fact that you’ll trigger a bonus round, on average, just 5% of the time, and that means you can endure length sessions without seeing much action (and see your bankroll depleted accordingly!)

Yes, it’s a decent game that offers excitement, but it’s not one we’d necessarily recommend over Crazy Time unless you’re specifically after something different. If you’ve never played it before, it’s worth giving it a go for a few rounds to see if the bingo-style mechanics appeal to you, but, for us, it’s just too difficult to escape the feeling that Crazy Balls Live is a ‘solution’ to a problem that simply didn’t really exist.
