PowerUp Roulette live stream, playing guide & Strategies

PowerUp Roulette is a live casino game from Pragmatic Play that takes classic casino roulette and adds steroids! The game was released back in 2022 and is still going strong today, and there’s a lot going on, including multipliers and a maximum win potential of up to 15,000x!

The live roulette game, like all live Pragmatic Play titles, is played in a professional studio, and you’ll see highly skilled hosts (croupiers) initiating the action each time a new round begins.

The purpose of this review and guide is to give you an in-depth look at how PowerUp Roulette works, what it takes to play, the best strategies, and a full breakdown of the RTPs, odds, and other metrics.

Gameplay & Features

PowerUp Roulette uses a European roulette wheel, with the game played using a single-zero wheel with a total of 37 numbered pockets. You’ll see all the familiar inside/outside bets.

Don’t be fooled by the classic setup, though, because Pragmatic Play has managed to add a game show-style twist, and the key to the game is the PowerUp mechanic.

Before each spin begins, 3 to 5 “PowerUp numbers” are randomly selected and highlighted on the betting grid. If the ball lands on one of these numbers, the PowerUp Bonus is triggered. During this feature, every single number of the roulette grid gets a random multiplier attached to it. These can be worth up to a maximum multiplier of 500x, so you don’t have to be a maths expert to see how the game can seriously pay! We’ll talk more about how the PowerUp Bonus works later in this review.

Now, aside from the bonus mode mechanic, PowerUp Roulette includes all standard roulette betting options. Only straight-up number bets qualify for multipliers, so this is also something to be aware of. All other active bets, including splits, streets, red/black, etc, play out with standard odds. And, perhaps best of all, is the fact that Pragmatic Play has integrated the PowerUp feature without any side bets or extra steps.

Wheel, Interface, and User Experience

Pragmatic Play is known for slick, user-friendly live casino interfaces, and PowerUp Roulette is no exception. From the moment you launch the game, you’re greeted with an attractive studio view, and you’ll see the roulette wheel right in the middle.

All betting options are laid out on a clear digital roulette table. You can toggle between the classic grid view and a racetrack view, the latter of which is useful for those wanting to place neighbour and French bets. The interface alsoincludes a unique “favourite bets” feature, which allows you to save custom bet patterns to use again later.

Like all Pragmatic Play live games, PowerUp Roulette also offers in-game statistics and history. A results display shows recent winning numbers, with an icon indicating if a PowerUp round landed on that spin and the multiplier attached, if so.

How to Player PowerUp Roulette

Playing PowerUp Roulette is very simple and straightforward, and a typical round works like this:

1. Place Your Bets:

You’ll have around 20 seconds between game rounds to place your chips on the different bet types and grid numbers. You can place as many or as few bets as you like, with chip sizes ranging from ₱5 up to a maximum of ₱250,000, but remember that only straight-up number bets qualify for multipliers.

2. PowerUp Numbers Selected:

Once the betting round closes, the game will randomly highlight between three and five numbers as Power Up numbers. If the upcoming spin lands on any of these, it will trigger the game’s bonus round.

3. Spin Result:

As always, the host will start by releasing the ball in the opposite direction to which the wheel is spinning, and when it stops, if the ball lands on a non-PowerUp number, the game round ends normally, and bets are paid out according to the pay table, albeit with some differences in payouts.

4. PowerUp Bonus:

If the wheel lands on a number with the PowerUp Bonus, wins are also paid out before the bonus round begins. Each number of the roulette wheel then gets a random multiplier applied to it (up to 500x on the initial spin), and the wheel is spun again. If it lands on any number, straight-up bets on that number win are paid, according to the multiplier. If it lands on a PowerUp number again, those bets win their multiplier, and the bonus round is re-triggered for another spin.

Each time a PowerUp number hits in a bonus spin, the multipliers increase, up to 1,000x on the second spin, 2,000x on the third, 4,000x on the fourth, and 8,000x on the fifth!

PowerUp Live Roulette Game Bonus Rounds Explained

PowerUp Roulette is all about the bonus round, and it’s this bonus that allows you to win up to 8,000x your bet: far more than you could ever feasibly win in standard roulette games. Now, while we briefly explained how the PowerUp Bonus round works above, we’re going to explain it in more depth here.

Once the PowerUp Bonus is triggered, every single number on the roulette wheel is assigned a multiplier, up to 500x on the first round. The dealer then spins the wheel once more, and the number that lands is then paid, according to the multiplier that’s on it. If that outcome was one of the special PowerUp triggers for the bonus, the feature then re-triggers into stage two, and here, the multipliers double, up to a maximum of 1,000x.

The wheel then spins again using these higher multipliers. This process can continue up until a fifth bonus stage, where multipliers can reach their peak of 8,000x!

It’s also worth pointing out that you bank each win as it happens in the bonus. So if your number hits for 100x in the first stage and the bonus continues, you keep that win and still have your bet active for the next spin. This means that, in theory, hitting all five stages and landing the largest multipliers could total over 15,000x, although the most that can be paid from one number on a single spin is 8,000x.

Payouts, Probabilities, and RTP

In standard play, PowerUp Roulette follows European roulette payouts for all bets except one: straight-up single number wins pay 24:1 instead of the usual 35:1. This reduction is how the game funds those massive multipliers. All other bets (splits, reds/blacks, etc.) pay the usual odds, so if you’re only looking to bet on outside numbers, you won’t be affected; however, you also won’t qualify for the PowerUp bonus round.

Now, once you enter the PowerUp bonus round, the straight-up number wins are paid according to the multiplier. So a 1,000x multiplier, for example, translates to a payout of 999:1.

Here’s a look at the different betting options and their payouts:

BetPayout
Straight-Up24-7999:1
Split17:1
Street11:1
Corner8:1
6 Line5:1
Dozen/Column1:1
Red/Black, Odd/Even1:1

Note: Pragmatic Play states that the odds of hitting the PowerUp Bonus are, roughly, 1 in 8 to 1 in 12 spins, which equates to around a 10% probability. Of course, landing multiple PowerUp Bonus spins consecutively (to land those monster multipliers) is much, much harder.

PowerUp Roulette Live Streaming Quality

PowerUp Roulette’s stream is broadcast in high definition from a state-of-the-art studio, and like all live Pragmatic Play games, the video feed is crisp and clear on your screen, regardless of the device. You can easily read the numbers on the wheel. We like how the multiplier graphics behind the dealer are also very easy to see, but not too overwhelming.

You’ll enjoy multiple camera angles, including wide studio shots to close-ups of the wheel, and when the PowerUp bonus is triggered, things get a bit crazy, as the studio lights up and zooms in on the multiplier board.

Audio-wise, there are minimal sound effects, with microphones picking up the natural sounds of the wheel. You will, however, be able to hear the game host commenting on the spin and building anticipation for bonuses or the next round.

PowerUp Roulette Strategy

While you can’t influence where the ball lands (and you should be wary of any roulette strategy you find online, as there simply is never a way to tilt the odds in your favour), there are some different betting styles. However, these simply change the volatility and don’t influence the house edge, unlike in, say, blackjack.

Here are a few different PowerUp Roulette strategies to consider:

The Balanced Bettor

This strategy involves hedging your bets by combining outside bets with a few straight-ups. The outside bets (like red/black) give steady even-money returns to protect, so to speak, your bankroll, while the straight-up bets are where you’ll be (hopefully) hitting those big wins. What’s good about this strategy is that if a bonus round doesn’t land for a while, you can still collect some smaller wins. And, if a bonus round does hit, especially early in your session, you have an excellent chance of hitting a profit.

The Number Spreader

This strategy involves covering a lot of numbers with small straight-up bets. By betting on, say, 10 or more different numbers each spin, you increase the chance that if a PowerUp round triggers, you’ll have at least one bet on the winning number.

Even in regular spins, hitting any one of your many numbers (albeit paid at 24:1) can help you to maintain your bankroll fairly well. This strategy gives you the most frequent hits, and if you choose to bet on the ten numbers, you’d end up hitting around 35% of the time.

The High-Risk Sniper

This is the highest-risk strategy, and it’s also the one that will come in the least. However, as you’d expect, it also offers the highest win potential. This strategy has you picking just one or two numbers and betting only on them for a number of spins. In most rounds, you’ll win nothing, and even when your numbers do hit, there’s no guarantee of a PowerUp Bonus being active.

However, if you play for long enough and do end up hitting a PowerUp Bonus round, and your number then lands, well, you’re going to end up winning insane amounts of money!

Now, regardless of which strategy you choose to use, the most important thing to remember is that you should always set a budget and stick to it. PowerUp Roulette can be very volatile, especially if you’re sticking to straight-up number betting, so consider betting smaller than you would if you were playing conventional games like European Roulette.

PowerUp Roulette Stats Tracking

PowerUp Roulette, like all live dealer games in the Pragmatic portfolio, such as Money Time and Sweet Bonanza Candyland, is completely random, and while there is no RNG involved, the wheel is designed and tested to ensure it’s sporadic on each spin. Now, while Pragmatic Play offers some basic stats tools from within the game, this isn’t always enough for players, and this is the reason why we’ve developed our own PowerUp Roulette statistic tracking tool, so you can easily and quickly view detailed results from previous game rounds.

Why? Because, as is the case with most live dealer games, you can begin to see patterns if you study the data enough. While this doesn’t change the odds or the likelihood of results happening in future spins, it can help guide you on which bets to place.

Why do Players Check previous PowerUp Roulette Spin Results?

This depends on the player, and for a lot of punters, they like to know which roulette numbers have been hitting recently. If they see that their number has been appearing a lot, for example, they may assume it’s running “hot.” Similarly, if their number hasn’t hit for a long time, they may feel it’s cold.

Whether this incentivises them to bet higher or lower, well, that is going to be down to personal preference. However, it can also be useful to know how often PowerUp bonuses have been triggered and which multipliers have been reached. Of course, knowing how long it’s been since something has “hit” doesn’t actually change anything, as each result is always entirely random.

Are There Any Benefits To Using PowerUP Stats Trackers?

The answer to this question will be determined by what you actually want from them. While stats don’t influence future outcomes, they do add extra excitement and more engagement to your gaming experience, and many players like to use the information available to spot trends and guide their betting.

Sure, using stats trackers can show you some interesting information, but always try to remember that just because an outcome hasn’t happened in a long time does not mean that it’s due any time soon. PowerUp Roulette is a regulated and certified live dealer game, and this means every single round is 100% independent from the previous ones.

Conclusion & Verdict

PowerUp Roulette is one of those games that manages to feel both familiar and unique at the same time. On the face of it, it’s just another European roulette game set in a slick, professional studio.

The PowerUp mechanic, however, changes everything. By swapping out the standard 35:1 straight-up payouts for 24:1, Pragmatic has, for all intents and purposes, traded the base game value for huge bonus potential. When the multipliers start stacking, you can easily see how the game offers a maximum win potential of 15,000x.

We also really like the fact that, while it contains elements of Evolution’s Lightning Roulette, we feel Pragmatic Play has managed to do things totally differently. This is really refreshing, especially in an era where so many game developers are simply rehashing old concepts, and it’s one of the reasons why we like PowerUp Roulette so much!
